Can we really pray for anything?

We are blessed to be the only creations on earth with the ability to pray.

In James 1:5–8 we are told to believe and trust in the lord and our prayers will be answered. Does this mean we will receive everything we pray for?

First, you must look at these three questions

Question #1 — Are we asking?

It does not matter if you pray alone or with others. We must pray in earnest and frequently to communicate with the lord.

It is important that we knock at the door first. Jesus prayed. It is an invitation to draw closer to the father, and through him, we receive our joy and salvation.

Question #2 — Why are we asking?

Are we asking for the right reasons? We need to ask ourselves does this glorify him or his will. Does our prayer show that we are loving our neighbor?

Remember the Great Commandment “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself"

Question #3— Are you living a life of Sin?

In James1:22 we are told to be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving ourselves.

It is God’s will whether prayers are answered. It is not ours.

I believe God wants to answer our prayers but our relationship with God needs to be right and we need to ask for the right reasons.
